Bows, buttons and boucle, Oh my! Chanel's autumn/winter 25/26 collection was a celebration of the house's ever-popular fashion codes.

The luxury French fashion house made a point of underlining the desirable elements first made famous by founder Coco Chanel in its Paris Fashion Week show.

Perhaps not having a creative director at the helm led the luxury label’s design team to accentuate some of the  iconic symbols.

The range was undertaken by the general design team prior to the announcement Matthieu Blazy would take up role vacated by Virginie Viard, with the former Bottega Veneta designer expected to start with Chanel shortly.

Beneath the glass roof of the city’s Grand Palais, models walked out near a backdrop of a giant unfurling black ribbon, another nod to the collection’s exploration of scales of size, length and proportion.

In every size, bows blossomed over the collars and cuffs of blouses and dresses, appeared on necklaces and even down to the ankles of a dazzling black down jacket and sweatpants ensemble.

A long white knitted ribbon wrapped around a black sweater concluding in a big bow on the shoulder. Other voluminous or cut-out bows were seen highlight dresses, cardigans and sweaters.

The highlight just might be the  giant pearl necklaces that were actually (potentially the season’s most-wanted) cross-body bag.

Another key theme in the range was a layering and contrasting of texture and transparency. Sheer lace and gauzy blouses were worn over or under other more traditional pieces to provide new outfit perspective.
