Among the bustling food scene that is Visa Wellington On a Plate Festival two establishments stood out as the ultimate victors of the festival awards.

Neo Café & Eatery and Pravda Café & Grill captured the hearts and taste buds of both the judges and the eager diners. More than 5,000 food enthusiasts descended upon the festival, experiencing the delectable offerings of Dine Wellington and Cocktail Wellington.

For an entire week, the judges meticulously evaluated the culinary creations presented by the talented chefs, while the diners savoured every bite and sip, eagerly rating each entry. The festival was a celebration of flavours, with over 100 events and pop ups adding a delightful touch to the capital’s food scene throughout the month of May.

Neo Café & Eatery emerged as the remarkable champion of Dine Wellington, earning the prestigious title for the second consecutive year. Their innovative approach to flavours and playful twist on traditional dishes captured the imaginations of all who tasted their creations.

Meanwhile, Pravda Café & Grill secured the top spot in the Cocktail Wellington category. Their winning cocktail, aptly named “Blue Gold”, perfectly encapsulated the festival’s theme of breaking the mould. The mixologists at Pravda Café & Grill concocted a mesmerising blend that tantalised the senses and left an indelible mark on the festival’s attendees.

Throughout the month, the festival showcased the culinary prowess of Wellington, attracting both locals and visitors alike. From street food offerings to exquisite fine dining experiences, the capital city buzzed with food lovers eager to savour the diverse and innovative flavours on offer. Visa Wellington On a Plate Festival Director Sarah Meikle says it was great to see culinary creativity and innovation at every price point, showing that any venue can throw their hat in and be in the running for the top festival award.

It was a testament to the dedication and passion of the chefs, bartenders, and all the incredible venues that had pushed the boundaries of creativity and delivered extraordinary dining experiences.

The 2023 Visa Wellington On a Plate Festival had truly been a feast for the senses, leaving a lasting impression on the culinary landscape of Wellington. As the festival came to a close, the city eagerly anticipated the next edition, where new culinary adventures and accolades awaited the passionate food enthusiasts, ready to embark on another gastronomic journey. 

The August edition of Visa Wellington On a Plate runs from 11 – 27 August 2023 and will feature Beervana and Burger Wellington presented by Garage Project, as well as beer and burger events and pop ups.
