The royals and the joy of gardening

From the Queen’s annual visit of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, to Kate Middleton getting stuck in the garden, the royals have shown a particular affinity for getting stuck in the garden.

With the Chelsea Flower Show forced to move online this year amid the pandemic, we round up our favourite shots of the royals showing off their green thumbs.

Earlier this year, The Duchess of Cambridge shared a sweet photo of Princess Charlotte stopping to smell the flowers.

“I’ve got this one photo of Charlotte smelling a bluebells, and really for me it’s moments like these that mean so much to me as a parent,” shared Kate in the caption.

Last year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show saw Kate and Will and their children enjoying the garden they helped create ahead of the show.

“Over the past months, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have helped The Duchess gather moss, leaves and twigs to help decorate The RHS Back to Nature Garden,” they shared with the photos.

Queen Elizabeth II’s involvement with the Chelsea Flower Show started long ago. This photo from 1995 shows the Queen admiring one of the 700 exhibits on display.

In 2014, the Queen visited the Thai exhibit at the Chelsea Flower Show and was presented with a special flower arrangement from the Thai representatives.

The Chelsea Flower Show is known for its spectacular and stunning flower arrangements. In 2016, Queen Elizabeth II was pictured in front of one fo the floral exhibits, created from the silhouette of the Queen herself.

The Duchess was joined by the Queen to give her a tour of her Back to Nature garden.

Back in 2018, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle wrapped up their tour of New Zealand at the Redwoods in Rotorua. “This place is your backyard. It’s great. It’s really special. Beautiful,” said Meghan during her visit.
