Oprah’s Favourite Kiwi Sunscreen Revealed

Almost, sort-of, like winning an Oscar, getting Oprah's approval is a pinch-me moment for any brand.

So we were thrilled to hear New Zealand skincare brand Emma Lewisham is on the influential host and media star’s radar.

Not only that, but Emma Lewisham has been honoured with an Oprah Daily ‘Beauty O-Ward’ in the USA for the brand’s Sunceutical SPF 50 Mineral Face Crème.

The SPF is a key part of the regimen created by the brand’s namesake founder, who started her brand back in 2019 with the popular Skin Reset Serum for pigmentation.

SPF came soon after and the brand has since refined its offering, its SPF 50 Mineral Face Crème now a silky formula containing 20% Zinc Oxide for mineral-based UVA and UVB defence. The formular also contains skincare ingredients that aim to support the health of skin and its natural collagen, helping address the signs of aging, like wrinkles forming.

Of course for something as important as UV protection, we should never simply rely on a celebrity’s endorsement, so it was affirming to know the product was chosen for the O-Ward alongside a panel of dermatologists, including Dr Heather Rogers, Dr Anthony Rossi and Dr Ellen Gendler. It’s also worth looking for the relevant testing-and regulatory compliance requirements in your country, of which the Emma Lewisham product meets both TGA (AU) and FDA (USA) standards.

“Being recognised with an Oprah O-Award in the USA is such a special milestone, both for me personally and for our team,”Lewisham said following the product’s inclusion.

“We spent eight years developing a mineral SPF that was highly effective, met FDA standards, and was still beautiful and desirable to use. So much time, science, and care went into this product, and for it to be recognised internationally, against thousands of SPFs on the market, is a moment of which we are deeply proud.”

She says it’s also a proud moment for New Zealand. “To see a brand built here, with our values and our standards, standing alongside the very best in global beauty means a great deal to us.”
