Oprah Winfrey has donated $10 million to help those people struggling amid the coronavirus crisis.

Speaking to chef José Andrés, founder of World Central Kitchen, and Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, CEO of Feeding America on an Instagram TV video, Winfrey announced her donation of $9 million for a handful for charities, including the Boys and Girls Club in Mississippi.

An additional $1 million will be donated to America’s Food Fund, Leonardo DiCaprio’s fund for helping low-income families who are struggling during the coronavirus lockdowns.

“I know not everybody can donate a million dollars, but I feel like this is the central place to [donate to] if you really want to do something,” said Winfrey. “I know I can trust my money in your hands.”

In a statement, DiCaprio acknowledged the work NGOs like Feeding America are doing for those on the frontline. “I thank them for their tireless work on the frontlines, they deserve all of our support,” he said.

The America’s Food Fund has already raised over $12 million.
