It was off to the circus for Dior’s spring 2019 couture runway show as creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri sent models down the catwalk underneath the big top.
Both Christian Dior himself and past creative director John Galliano turned to the circus for inspiration and Grazia Chiuri added her own whimsical twist with exaggerated silhouettes, ruffled collars, and ringmaster-esque pants and jackets. Grazia Chiuri took a subtler approach when it came to the handful of breathtaking diaphanous gowns – that we will no doubt be seeing on the red carpet very soon – with harlequin-inspired diamond embellishment and oversized bow details.
It wouldn’t be a Dior haute couture show without a performance of some sort. This time it was the all-female Mimbre circus that turned heads during the show.
