Watch this amazing footage of a battle to the death between an octopus and crab in Yallingup, Australia.

An amateur wildlife photographer was taken by surprise after happening upon a horrifying battle to the death between an octopus and a crab.

The unsuspecting crab is first seen minding his own business next to a rock pool in Yallingup, Australia.

Unbeknownst to the crab, and onlookers, lurking beneath the water on the surface of the rock pool was an octopus.

On closer inspection, once you’ve watched the short video multiple times, the octopus can be seen watching and waiting.

A split second is all it takes for the cepahalopod mollusc to launch itself from the water and grab hold of the crustacean.
It’s writhing tentacles smothers the crab immediately, making no escape possible.

The octopus then inches back to it’s watery lair dragging the crab with it and under to a certain death.

The short, yet amazing, video was filmed by Porsche Indrisie, who works for seafood company Burswood Seafood.

Ms Indrisie uploaded the video to YouTube where it has already had more than 6 million hits.

“I didn’t know why I chose to film this crab, but thought I would try and get closer to it but something else beat me to it,” Indrisie said.

“We hung around for a while, but I understand octopus flip it open and eat it pretty quick, so I knew it was toast,” she added.

When eating their pray, octopus are believed to turn crabs over and eat their softer insides, discarding the shell.
