Nurse grants dying patient’s ultimate final wish
When single mum Tricia Somers is diagnosed with terminal liver cancer, she asks a nurse the ultimate favour.

When single mum Tricia Somers was diagnosed with terminal liver cancer, all she could think about was who was going to look after her eight-year-old son Wesley after she died. Her parents had passed away the year before, and she had no partner close friends.

ABC News reports that when Somers was undergoing treatment in hospital, she befriended a nurse named Tricia Seaman. Acting as any desperate dying mother would, Somers one day asked the nurse the following question:

“If I die, will you raise my son?”

Seaman had grown quite close to Somers after the cancer patient’s lengthy stays in hospital, watching the mother deteriorate due to the taxing chemotherapy she was undergoing. In fact the pair had grown so close that Seaman and her family now take care of Somers and Wesley. And when Somers passes away, Seaman and her husband have agreed to take Wesley in and become his legal guardian.
