In an announcement, organisers revealed New Zealand Fashion Week (NZFW) will this year take place from 17–22 August 2026 at Shed 10 on Auckland’s waterfront. The week brings a selection of runway presentations, immersive experiences and hosted conversations aimed at elevating local fashion, for invited guests and the public via ticketed shows.
For the first time in a number of years the New Zealand Government is also supporting the event with funding.
That funding comes from a one-off $10 million contestable fund created to increase international visitors to the country and drive economic activity by supporting local events.
“This is one of several exciting events the Government is supporting in 2026” says Tourism and Hospitality Minister, Louise Upston. “From world-class international and homegrown musical acts to sports fixtures and arts and cultural celebrations, these events will bring fans, visitors and a big boost to New Zealand’s economy.”
It’s a boost for the event that saw a successful showing in 2025, both at NZFW in Auckland and at a new spin-off event, known as the Christchurch Spring Fashion Festival, held in Christchurch in November.
Key partner Giltrap Group is again working with NZFW as
Highlights of the 2025 Auckland event included Karen Walker & adidas, Kathryn Wilson, Zambesi, Claudia Li and Juliette Hogan. It’s not yet known who will take part this year but organisers are inviting designers to register their interest as planning for this year’s NZFW gets underway.
“We are incredibly proud of what we achieved in 2025, establishing the perfect foundation to continue to evolve the event and look at more ways where we can have a positive impact on the industry and New Zealand as a whole,” says Liam Taylor, Director NZ Fashion Week Board.
“Along with the additional support from the Government, we are fortunate to have the continued support of Tātaki Auckland Unlimited which really does set the event up for continued success.”
