The Maker is a luxury fragrance line where each scent is inspired by imagined and experienced moments at the chic and charming boutique hotel of the same name in upstate New York.
While you can guess at the idea behind some of the sultry scents – ‘Naked’ and ‘Lover’ were inspired by the idea of passionate rendezvous – others simply recall the freedom and relaxation of a stay in the stylish location.
The story of the line’s creation goes back to a previous beauty industry success.
Lev Glazman and Alina Roytberg are the visionaries behind the global skincare brand Fresh, known for it’s embrace of natural ingredients like roses, soy and black tea. The couple took their knowledge of hospitality gained during a period of continuous travel building Fresh into a global brand, and moved on to a new endeavor, opening a hotel called The Maker in Hudson, two hours drive from New York City.
The move demanded a serious renovation and interior overhaul to three historic buildings before launching the hotel in 2020, transforming the eclectic 11-room location with a bohemian sensibility. Each room and space is a mélange of art, influences and time periods that come together beautifully to create an elegant and vibrant escape.
Far from resting on their laurels, the pair eventually sought to extend the hotel into a lifestyle concept, with a restaurant, gym and online store where you can buy items stocked in the hotel, including their fragrance offshoot.
For The Maker scent line Glazman wanted to create an evocative travel keepsake that could recall the hotel and the people you might cross paths with there, but also inspire those that have never been. He drew on moments and people he had observed from afar in the hotel as well as the spaces, drinks and experiences found there. 
Woody and rich ‘The Stag’ eau de parfum.There are seven ender-inclusive eau de parfums including ‘Fire’, a smoldering woody-spicy vanilla-spiked scent, ‘Libertine’ a lively aromatic citrus, and the rich and powerful woody-leather ‘Stag.’
Candles take the same idea, with ‘Cafe’, ‘Gardener’, ‘Writer’ and ‘Architect’, among the dreamy line up.
