Naya Rivera’s body has been recovered, bringing the search for the actress to a tragic end. The Glee actress was confirmed dead by authorities on 13 July.
This sadly coincides with the anniversary of the death of Rivera’s Glee co-star Cory Monteith, who died of a drug overdose in 2013.
Ventura County Sheriff’s department said the body had been found at Lake Piru early Monday morning.
The 33-year-old Rivera went missing while boating with her 4-year-old son Josey on the lake, 50 miles north of Los Angeles.
Authorities say that the actresses’ Glee “cast members and friends gathered for a prayer at the water’s edge just before the body was found.”
The sheriff’s department say they do not suspect foul play in Rivera’s death, nor suicide.
“We are confident, based on the circumstances, she was not a victim of foul play. There is no indication of this being an abduction or a homicide. There is also nothing to indicate it was a suicide either.”
Rivera’s co-stars took to Twitter to pay tribute to the actress.
“Rest sweet, Naya. What a force you were. Love and peace to your family,” wrote Jane Lynch, who played coach Sue Sylvester.
“Rest In Peace and power, Naya,” wrote actress Janel Parrish Long.
