A little playful and tongue in cheek, 'old money' style is trending right now.

More obvious than ‘quiet luxury’ but not too far from the idea, in fashion ‘old money style’, recalls classic, high-quality pieces with timeless appeal that appear expensive (even if they’re not).

The idea is infiltrating the beauty industry too, in particular with an abundance of polished, chic hairstyles with lots of volume, that generally require skills with a blow dryer at the very least.

The ‘old money bob’ has been inescapable online recently, with a host of influencers and A-listers updating their bobs from carefree and tousled, slicked-back or pin-straight, to a ‘do that’s soft and voluminous.

The old money bob hits at the chin or slightly longer between the jawline and collarbone and has a super-elegant, polished finish.

Celebrity Hairstylist, Robert Vetica, worked with Naomi Watts for the Emmys this week and nailed the look on the actress’ blonde locks

Vetica used Kerasilk products to assist with styling and shared his step-by-step on the look he created.

How to get the look

  1. After prepping the hair with a fresh haircut, Vetica first applied the Kerasilk Liquid Cuticle Filler to give the hair body and strengthen the cuticle to achieve a smoother, more voluminous blowout.
  2. Vetica then used a dryer and boar brush to give the hair a smooth and full blowout. He focused the attention on creating a bob finish, which was easily attainable after the fresh haircut.
  3. Section by section, Vetica then applied the Kerasilk Strengthening Bond Builder to strengthen the hair and add shine before going in with 1-inch straightener to smooth hair and then bend the ends into a modern bob.
  4. With a low side part, Vetica took the triangle section at the top of her head and used a 1-inch curler to create one big barrel curl.
  5. To complete the look, Vetica smoothed out any flyways with a boar brush and applied the KerasilkFinishing Cream to secure the modern chic look.
