Which were the most memorable and surprising moments of the past 10 years?


There was an abundance of stars behind bars this decade – some more predictable than others. Lindsay Lohan’s legal woes were well-documented, and Justin Bieber also frequently fell foul of the law. But the once wholesome girl-next-door Amanda Bynes shocked us with an apparently drug-induced meltdown and the following string of driving-related arrests. Reese Witherspoon’s disorderly conduct charge was another arrest we didn’t see coming!


Some of Hollywood’s most high-profile romances came to an end this decade. We said goodbye to Brangelina (Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie), TomKat (Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes), and Bennifer 2.0 (Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner).


Hollywood farewelled some of its brightest stars this past 10 years, including Prince, Robin Williams, Amy Winehouse, David Bowie, Paul Walker, Whitney Houston, Chris Cornell, Mary Tyler Moore, Carrie Fisher, Debbie Reynolds, Elizabeth Taylor, Lauren Bacall, Joan Rivers, Burt Reynolds, George Michael, Aretha Franklin, James Gandolfini, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Alan Rickman, Roger Moore, Avicii, and Peter O’Toole.

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s affair

In 2011, it was revealed Schwarzenegger had fathered a child during an affair with his family’s former housekeeper more than a decade earlier. It led to the California governor’s divorce from Maria Shriver.

Chris Brown and Rihanna reunite   

Fans were shocked when Rihanna and Chris Brown rekindled their relationship in late 2012. Their reunion came nearly four years after Brown assaulted the Bajan singer the night before the 2009 Grammys.

Solange and Jay-Z’s elevator fight

Leaked surveillance camera footage from an elevator showed Solange Knowles viciously attack her brother-in-law, Jay-Z following a Met Gala party in 2014.

Photo-hacking scandal

A massive breach of Apple’s iCloud services saw celebrities such as Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, Ariana Grande and Kirsten Dunst have their photos hacked. Hundreds of nude, semi-nude and revealing images of the stars were leaked.

Bill Cosby sexual assault allegations

Dozens of women accused Cosby of sexual assault in 2014 – he’s since been sentenced to three to 10 years in state prison for aggravated indecent assault, found guilty of drugging and sexually violating a woman in his home 15 years ago.

Caitlyn Jenner comes out

After months of speculation, Jenner publicly came out as a trans woman in April 2015 in an interview with Diane Sawyer.

Trump’s Access Hollywood tape

A 2005 Access Hollywood tape of Donald Trump and former NBC Today show co-host Billy Bush emerged, which showed Trump making graphic comments about women with encouragement from Bush.

Kim Kardashian robbed at gunpoint

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star was the victim of a theft in Paris in which armed intruders tied her up and stole millions of dollars worth of jewellery.

Prompted by dozens of accusations against film mogul Harvey Weinstein, the #MeToo movement against sexual harassment and assault was born. Kevin Spacey, Woody Allen, and R Kelly are among high profile stars to have allegations levelled against them.

Wrong winner announced at Oscars

During the 2017 Academy Awards, Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty announced the Best Picture winner was La La Land, when in fact the award went to Moonlight.

Manchester Arena bombing

Prince Andrew and Jeffrey Epstein

Prince Andrew made headlines this year for his friendship with late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. A woman has accused Epstein of sexually trafficking her to Andrew.
