The stately fete, hosted by Queen Elizabeth II to honour 70 years of the NATO Alliance, included guests like Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and President Donald Trump. They and other such heads of state began gathering in London today for the alliance’s latest summit.

Other royals in attendance included Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, who joined the queen in formally welcoming the NATO leaders and their partners. Princess Anne, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, and Princess Alexandra were also present to welcome guests in the State Rooms of Buckingham Palace.

There was no sign of Prince Andrew, who has stepped down from Royal duties. And Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were also no shows as they have taken six weeks leave from service to the Royal family. Prince William, is currently on an official visit to Kuwait and Oman until tomorrow.

And so there was the Duchess of Cambridge, shining as she does, holding fort for the Royal family. A future Queen indeed.
