Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex is a vision in a bright yellow dress during her joint appearance with Prince Harry at the ‘Your Commonwealth’ Youth Challenge Reception in London’s Marlborough House on July 5th.
The event is the “culmination of the Commonwealth’s youth leadership workshop,” according to Kensington Palace.
The Duchess’ latest look marks a bold departure from her neutral, cream, and blush pink dresses seen at recent public engagements. According to an article on Harpers Bazaar, it was previously reported that she wears subtle colors when attending events with Queen to avoid clashing with or distracting from The Queen’s colourful outfits. However, since the Queen was not present at the reception, she was free to for a high-wattage hue.
Despite the surprising change in colour scheme, Markle still looked stunning in her knee-length sleeveless sheath dress and nude Manolo Blahnik pumps.
The dress is by Brandon Maxwell, a U.S. designer who was, according to Harpers Bazaar, Lady Gaga’s stylist. Perhaps choosing an American brand is Markle’s subtle hat tip to her home country, celebrated Independence Day the day prior.
