Meatstock’s barbecue and blues festival is coming back to Auckland

Kiwi meat-lovers’ favourite festival of the year is coming back this February. Meatstock Auckland will return to the ASB Showgrounds on the 15th-16th February for two days of mouthwatering meat and rockin’ blues.

After 2019’s hugely successful festival, which brought in around 50,000 people to the Auckland, Melbourne and Sydney Meatstock events, festival directors, Jay Beaumont and Simon Luke are looking forward to another big year.

This year, legendary roots rockers, Katchafire will be hitting the stage as some of the biggest names in the BBQ scene get ready to fire up the pit. The event welcomes legends Big Moe Cason, American pitmaster Mike Johnson, and “Queen of Fire” Paula Labaki to the lineup.

Big Moe will be hosting the popular Texan BBQ Masterclasses while Queen Paula will be bringing her signature Brazilian barbecue and big personality to the event. And don’t miss a chance to see BBQ World Champ Mike Johnson as he cooks up a storm.

Over 50 teams from across New Zealand will be competing for a $15,000 in cash and prizes at the fourth Meatstock NZ Barbecue Wars.

Think you’ve got the skills to on the BBQ? This year, the festival will be holding its first NZ Sausage Sizzle Throwdown, where attendees can go up against professionals for the chance to win $1,500 cash and prizes.

The festival line-up also features Texas Pete’s BBQ Showdown, free rides for the kids, a huge barbecue expo, live art, delicious refreshments by Liberty Brewing and Jack Daniels, and more.
