Markets in May takes over Sydney’s Martin Place
Sydney's Martin Place has turned into a marketplace for the month of May featuring stalls, artisan discussions and cooking workshops.

It’s no secret that Sydney-siders are becoming more in tune with the provenance of their food, flocking in droves to growers markets on weekends. A community initiative launched by the Local Market Guide, Markets In May hopes to promote Sydney’s local markets through a month-long market love-in.

Stall holders include Brasserie Bread, Pepe Saya, Dessertmakers and Brilliant Food. As well as the alfresco market experience complete with tastings and product sampling, visitors can soak in live entertainment, chat with the growers and stallholders, and take part in a bunch of interactive initiatives such as workshops and artisan discussions.

Throughout the month, Bondi Farmers Markets’ will be hosting an event called ‘Pasture to Plate’ where they will be tracking the journey of butter, cream and milk and how it gets from the pasture to your plate.  There will be 3- 30 mins session (10am-12.30pm) conducted by  NSW’s premier producers, Pepe from Pepe Saya and John from Country Valley Milk, who will take the audience take step by step through the process of making your own butter and how milk is produced.

As well as this, Marrickville Organic Food Market are participating in the event showcasing a ‘Taste and Talk’- Secrets to the Perfect Crumble demo given by queen dessert maker Merna Taouk from Dessertmakers and Edwina Volz from Local Market Guide.
