Lucinda Riley crime novel discovered after her death to be published in 2022
The novel is the last standalone book to be published by the author, who passed away in June 2021.

The Murders at Fleat House is a soon-to-be released crime novel by author Lucinda Riley, who is known for her bestelling Seven Sisters series. Riley passed away on 11 June 2021 at the age of 56 and just a month after the release of the seventh book in the Seven Sisters series, The Missing Sister.

According to publisher Pan Macmillan, The Murders at Fleat House is a “suspenseful and utterly compelling crime novel” that follows the death of a student at a private boarding school and the investigation by a high-flying detective inspector, Jazmine ‘Jazz’ Hunter.

“A particularly grim discovery at the school makes this the most challenging murder investigation of her career. Because Fleat House hides secrets darker than even Jazz could ever have imagined…”

The novel is Riley’s only crime novel and was written after her youngest child started school in 2004.

“It’s a great joy, though poignant indeed, to discover a manuscript after Lucinda had died that more than confirmed what we all knew: that she was a consummate storyteller and writer,” said Pan Macmillan’s Jeremy Trevathan.

“This novel reveals that Lucinda could have made a name for herself in the crime fiction community. Her many fans will find much in this novel that resonates with everything they loved about The Seven Sisters.”

The Murders at Fleat House is not the only Riley book to be published posthumously. Upon the publication of The Missing Sister, the author revealed she had been working on a surprise eighth book in the Seven Sisters series, titled Atlas: The Story of Pa Salt. After her death, her family revealed that her son, Harry Whittaker, will be completing the final book, due to be released in spring 2023.

“Before her death, Lucinda was able to write several important passages alongside detailed notes on the story. She expressed a clear wish that her eldest son, Harry, should complete the series if the worst were to happen,” read the family statement.

The Murders at Fleat House will be published globally on 26 May 2022 and is available for pre-order now.
