Louis Vuitton appoints new artistic director of women’s collections
Louis Vuitton appoints Nicolas Ghesquière as artistic director of its women’s collections.

The former Balenciaga designer joins Louis Vuitton, filling in the shoes of Marc Jacobs after Jacobs left his 16-year tenure at the fashion house.

Jacobs was the first designer to create LV’s ready-to-wear collection.

“Louis Vuitton has always incarnated for me the symbol of ultimate luxury, innovation and exploration. I am very honored of the mission that I am entrusted with, and proud to join the history of this great Maison. We share common values and a vision. I can’t wait to join the team. Together we will build the future of the brand while preserving its precious heritage” said Nicolas Ghesquière.

Ghesquière will present his first women’s collection in Paris in March 2014.
