It's the most wonderful time of the year, and no one knows how to express the sentiment visually better than London's hotels.

With winter hitting its stride in the UK, it’s the perfect time to embrace a bit of mood-boosting festivity, and the trimmings that come with.

The weeks leading up to Christmas are made magical at the city’s iconic hotels. Countless lights drip from roofs and windows, and huge trees hung with shining and often-themed baubles greet guests in lobbies and dining rooms. At The Savoy, guests staying during the festive period can even request a decorated Christmas tree to be placed in their room.

Each year Claridge’s works with a fashion designer or brand to decorate its huge 20ft Christmas tree. Past trees have been collaborations with Louis Vuitton, Diane von Furstenberg, Karl Lagerfeld and Burberry. This year’s tree is decorated by Sir Paul Smith and features 100 colourful birdhouses among the baubles (seen below).

Of course it’s not just decorations but other ways to enjoy this time of the year, from delicious afternoon teas, Christmas-themed cocktails and world-class menus that tie tradition with modern haute cuisine. Then there’s the musical performances that add to the cheer.

The best hotels in London are bucket list destinations to enjoy this time of year.

We take a look at some of the most beautiful Christmas decor for 2024.
