All in the Family

While most teenagers are too caught up in a whirlwind of schoolwork to focus on much else, 16-year-old Lily-Rose Depp, daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis, has been busy carving out a name for herself in the world of high fashion. Following in the footsteps of her mother – Paradis fronted her first Chanel campaign back in 1990 – Depp has just been announced as Chanel’s newest brand ambassador. The announcement comes as no surprise to fashion insiders; the stunning young woman was spotted walking alongside her mother for Karl Lagerfeld’s casino-themed Chanel Haute Couture show just last week.

Take a look at Depp’s debut campaign below.

Framing fashion

MiNDFOOD Style is proud to shout out that images from our incredible shoot ‘Shape Shifter’ shot for our debut issue by Auckland fashion photographer Stephen Tilley were selected to illustrate a wonderful feature story on Tilley in the latest issue of f11 magazine (for photographers and aficionados).

The story chronicle’s Tilley’s 15-year career which began at the start of London’s East End artistic boom in the creative hub of Brick Lane in the Truman Brewery building. He went on to shoot two consecutive London Fashion Weeks before returning to New Zealand where he has forged a reputation and career shooting fashion for high end magazines and clients.

Tilley has worked with MiNDFOOD for many years on our Bobbi Brown shoots, and most recently he has been a key contributor to MiNDFOOD Style working alongside editor-in-chief Michael McHugh and fashion editor Jane Mow to create some incredible shoots, including this striking image from ‘Shape Shifter’ below (featured in f11).

Modern Movement

Tilley loves shooting to music in the studio “…it instantly relaxes everyone. It fuels my creativity, always has,” he says.

He considers Australian musician Nick Cave as the world’s male style icon.

When we asked him for his ultimate style tip his answer was: “Style is about honesty”.

“It’s a lifestyle. A stylish person, to me, is someone who wears clothes without effort or impersonation,” Tilley says. “They are confident and not afraid to be unique. Kurt Cobain is a classic example – he didn’t even want to be a fashion icon, it just happened.”

It is great to see this talented photographer acknowledged for his work and if you want to see more, go and buy the latest issue of MiNDFOOD Style!
