The King will visit with Queen Camilla, and the trip will include engagements in Canberra and New South Wales. The royal couple will also visit Samoa.
The King and Queen will attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), which will be held in Samoa between October 21 and 25.
Further details of their travels are set to be announced “in due course”, according to a statement from the Royal Family.
“Their Majesties The King and Queen will undertake an autumn tour in October 2024,” said the statement.
“This will include Royal Visits to Australia and Samoa, where their majesties will attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2024.”
The royal visit comes despite the King currently undergoing treatment for an unspecified form of cancer.
“The King’s doctors have advised that a further extension to their majesties’ trip should be avoided at this time, to prioritise his Majesty’s continued recovery,” the statement said.
“As with all His Majesty’s recent engagements, his programme in both countries will be subject to doctors’ advice, and any necessary modifications on health grounds.”
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced earlier this year that the King was planning a trip to Australia, however it was unclear whether this would go ahead after he was diagnosed with cancer.
King Charles and Queen Camilla last visited Australia in 2018 during the Commonwealth Games, which were held on the Gold Coast.
