KidsCan: helping New Zealand kids
Not every child starts on an equal footing. KidsCan is helping to support the one in four New Zealand children living in poverty.

More than 270,000 New Zealand children live in poverty every day.

KidsCan has been helping address the needs of these vulnerable children since it was founded in 2005.

Its mission is to meet the physical and nutritional needs of less fortunate children so that they can be more engaged in their education and have a better chance at reaching their full potential.

To date KidsCan is reaching 46,000 children through four programs – Food for Kids; Raincoats for Kids; Shoes for Kids; and Healthy for Kids – which target those most in need.

So far in 2013 KidsCan has provided food at school for 45000 children per day; distributed 16,000 raincoat, 10,000 pairs of shoes and 20,000 pairs of socks as well as thousands of basic hygiene and health care items.

Since 2005 it has issued 70,000 raincoats, 40,000 pairs of shoes, 80,000 pairs of socks, and more than 7 million food items.
