Kathryn’s week in review
Kathryn’s week in review
This week I watched… the last episodes of Normal People. If you haven’t watched it yet, let me tell you, its an emotional rollercoaster. Did I bawl my eyes out? Yes. Did I then spend way too long Instagram stalking the two main actors? You bet. Check out my full review here
I donated… to Q Theatre’s fundraiser ‘Help Q Get Through’. I used to work at Q so it holds a special place in my heart. The arts industry has been really impacted during COVID-19, with large gatherings looking like the last thing to be allowed as we move out of restrictions. Understandably, local theatres and venues are struggling to stay afloat. Q is the place where I’ve seen some of the best live theatre – shows that have made me cry uncontrollably, laugh hysterically and rush out telling anyone I know “you HAVE to see this show!”
If you can spare any money, please consider donating here: www.qtheatre.co.nz.
I received… a beautiful digital illustration from an artist I found on Instagram. After stumbling upon Katie Scott’s account, I commissioned her to do a digital illustration of one of my favourite travel photos. I was blown away by Katie’s work and can’t wait to frame it for my room!

Would you have guessed that this is a painting?!✨ Thank you @kathrynchung for giving me the opportunity/challenge to paint this for you 💕 I didn’t think I would ever get this finished but is definitely the piece I am most proud of! I ate… homemade broccoli soup. Full disclosure: I’m a bit obsessed with broccoli. So much so that my partner has been conditioned to bring back a head or two of broccoli every time he goes to the supermarket. With my fridge piling up with them, I decided to chop them up with some potato and make a soup. It wasn’t very fancy but tasted pretty good. Next time I want to give this recipe a go.
I discovered… the charming illustrations of The New Yorker cartoonist, James Stevenson. Stevenson, who passed away in 2017, was one of the most prolific cartoonists around. In addition to drawing for The New Yorker, he wrote children’s books, novels and poetry. Oh and all while raising nine children.
