Parenting tips from Kate Middleton that we’ve picked up.

How does one raise a little prince or princess? This is a question certainly on the minds of Pippa Middleton and Meghan Markle. Our suggestion – ask sister, Kate Middleton, a modern royal mum who is doing a super job with her three young kids.

“Kate has so much knowledge to share,” a friend of Pippa and Kate Middleton recently revealed to Us Weekly. “She’s a walking baby encyclopedia at this point.” From observation and previous insight by the Duchess of Cambridge, we’d take it a guess that her advice would be something along the lines of…

Consult widely

Earlier this year, Kate Middleton gave the world a peek into her parenting style when she penned a letter to the author of The Modern Mother’s Handbook: How to Raise a Happy, Healthy, Smart, Disciplined and Interesting Child, Starting from Birth telling her how much she loved the book. The Duchess takes on the advice of other mums and adapts it to her own parenting style – a wise woman.

Be a hands-on mum

Defying Royal tradition, she initially refused to get a maternity nurse for Prince George and broke the long standing royal tradition of hiring a nanny, insisting that – together with her husband – she could handle mom duties on her own. Even though her family has grown since then, the Duchess still insists on covering play dates and doing everything within her royal power to maximise time with the kids.

Get advice from your own mum

When in doubt, she calls her own mum, Carole. The children get quality time with their grandmother and other family members too.

Plenty of outdoor play is good

In an open letter to support Children’s Hospice Week, published in May 2018, Kate revealed how she cherishes “simple family moments” with her children, such as “playing outside together.” She wrote: “Spending quality time together is such an important aspect of family life and for me, as a mother, it is the simple family moments like playing outside together that I cherish.”

Teach them respect and culture

If you visit the Natural History Museum in London, you might run into Kate and the kids. She has taken George on numerous trips to the museum to see all the exhibits. In July 2016, during an official visit to the museum, Kate told a guests, “George loves three dimensional sculptures. He does come here quite often.”

Some sound advice that Meghan Markle and Pippa will surely benefit from.
