She’s back! Kate Middleton, The Duchess of Cambridge, has made her much-anticipated return to official duties, following her six-month maternity leave with Prince Louis.
Kate Middleton, mother of three, marked the end of her maternity leave on Tuesday when she visited a school in London that exposes children in the city to the great outdoors. She dressed down for the engagement, but remained stylish in an olive green sweater and matching jacket paired with light brown skinny jeans.
The Duchess was showered with cuddles from schoolchildren who gave her a warm welcome back from maternity leave on a visit to the Sayers Croft Forest School and Wildlife Garden at Paddington Recreation Ground in West London.
The project gives inner-city children a unique opportunity to learn about and engage with the natural world, something many rarely get the chance to do, and the Duchess was eager to help children search for spiders and other ‘mini beasts’ during the visit.
The radiant Duchess toured the Wildlife Garden, which consists of an edible garden area and a forest garden. She is passionate about mental health, was able to see first-hand the positive impact that the Forest School has on children’s emotional and physical wellbeing, and see how inner-city youngsters can engage with nature.
Kate Middleton helped children search for spiders and other “mini beasts” in the garden, as well as plant seeds. One little girl took a particular shine to Kate. Zoe Stroud, the interim head at Sayers Croft, said of the children: “They’re not that shy, but they do know she’s a princess.”
