The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge participated in an offroad Land Rover Experience while visiting the Jaguar Land Rover manufacturing site in Birmingham.
Prince William and Kate Middleton each took turns executing the difficult course – despite Kate being several months pregnant with the couple’s third child. The track consisted of tight turns, steep angles, and rough rocks. Lead instructor Ro Furby said both royals had a little trouble in one particular section, which most first-time drivers struggle with.
“It’s just a point where the vehicle actually articulates and you lose a little bit of traction,” she told The Daily Mail, adding that “It was an absolute privilege” to take them on the course.
After their driving experience, the Duke and Duchess met assembly line workers and spoke with the mountain rescue volunteers who use the vehicles in their services. The royal couple then visited the Aston Villa football club to encourage sports coaching.
The Duke & Duchess both made it safely round the course.
