Julia Roberts and George Clooney reuniting for rom-com set in Bali
The Hollywood A-listers have signed on for a romantic comedy set on the beaches of Bali.

Julia Roberts and George Clooney will be co-starring in a new romantic comedy, Ticket To Paradise.

The stars first played romantic partners in 2001’s Ocean’s Eleven and last shared the screen in the 2016 film Money Monster.

Ticket To Paradise will see Clooney and Roberts as a divorced couple that take a trip to Bali. But don’t expect an Eat, Pray, Love plotline, according to the synopsis, the couple travel to the tropical destination to stop their daughter from making the same mistake they did: getting married.

Kaitlyn Dever stars as their daughter Lily, with Billy Lourd playing her best friend, Wren, who ends up finding her own romance with a local doctor. Lucas Bravo from Emily in Paris is also starring in the film.

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel‘s Ol Parker has signed on to direct and co-write the script with Daniel Pipski.

Clooney most recently starred in The Midnight Sky on Netflix, while Roberts appeared in the Amazon series Homecoming. In a recent interview with New York Times Magazine, Roberts opened up about the reason why she hadn’t starred in a rom-com in many years. “If I had read something that I thought was Notting Hill level of writing or My Best Friend’s Wedding level of madcap fun, I would do it,” said the 54-year-old star.

“They didn’t exist until this movie that I just did (Ticket to Paradise) that Ol Parker wrote and directed,” she added.

The movie is being filmed in Queensland, at locations including the Whitsunday Islands, Gold Coast and Brisbane.

Ticket To Paradise is scheduled to release on 21 October, 2022.
