The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department released footage in which the singer can be seen helping to persuade the woman to come off the ledge.
The woman was over the barrier of the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge, which is across the city’s Cumberland River.
“It takes all of us to help keep each other safe,” said Chief John Drake in response to the incident.
The star was filming a music video at the location at the time, according to separate footage posted on social media.

In the video footage released by police, Bon Jovi can be seen walking over to the woman with another person.
The singer waves to the woman, who is holding onto the railing while standing on the ledge, before he leans on the railing near her.
Bon Jovi later walks over to the woman and, with the assistance of another woman, helps to bring the woman back onto the bridge’s pedestrian walkway.
The performer then hugs the woman once she is back to safety.
