Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux have announced they are separating after two years of marriage together.
In a joint statement, the couple said: “We are two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple, but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship. Normally we would do this privately, but given that the gossip industry cannot resist an opportunity to speculate and invent, we wanted to convey the truth directly.”
While giving no reason for the split, the statement added that: “Above all, we are determined to maintain the deep respect and love that we have for one another”.
Aniston, 49, and Theroux, 46, met in 2011 on the set of comedy film Wanderlust and married in 2015 after a two-year engagement. The wedding took place in secret at their Bel Air mansion.
The marriage was Aniston’s second, after a five-year marriage with Brad Pitt which ended in divorce in 2005. Fans have already begun speculating that Aniston and Pitt will reunite in the wake of their recent divorces.
