Jennifer Aniston Donates $1m to Hurricane Recovery
The 'Friends' star joins a number of celebrities in donating money to help Puerto Rico rebuild.

Jennifer Aniston has proven she is the humble, generous person we all thought by donating a generous $1 million to hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico – and not saying a word about it to the press.

The star split the money equally between the American Red Cross and the Ricky Martin Foundation, both targeted specifically towards repairing the island in the wake of hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria, reports The Daily Mail.

Ricky Martin revealed the news on Twitter, posting to thank Aniston for her generosity. “Jennifer Aniston U R amazing Thanx 4 donating $500k for our #PuertoRico relief fund. We will never forget. U R saving lives Jenn”, the post reads.

The trio of hurricanes have claimed 45 lives and left 4 million people without power, medicine and resources. Martin, a San Juan native, spoke about the tragic reality of the situation at a Miami fundraiser on Tuesday. “People are dying. I talked to victims who had to bury relatives in the backyard because no help came until after 10 days,” he said. “It is a nightmare but I want to celebrate because people from all over the world are saying, ‘We want to help.'”

Martin has raised more than $3 million for Puerto Rico recovery efforts, and has passionately spoken of the resilience of those suffering. “We are alive. Even though we lost everything, we didn’t lose hope, we are smiling, and we’re fighting for what needs to happen for Puerto Rico to be back to what it was.”

Aniston’s donation joins other stars including Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen DeGeneres and Jennifer Lopez.
