Raf Simons and Miuccia Prada take inspiration from seminal sci-fi in the reality-bending Prada men’s show.
Prada debuted its Fall/Winter 2022 men’s collection with a cinematic, sci-fi inspired show, where Hollywood stars such as Jeff Goldblum, Asa Butterfield and Kyle Maclachlan walked the runway.
The men’s collection – the third official runway show between Raf Simons and Miuccia Prada since Simons took on the shared role in 2020 – saw “everyday reality” ascribed value and “uniforms of employ achieve new importance” with emphasis on shoulders, tailored waistlines and structured silhouettes.
Taking place at the Deposito of the Fondazione Prada, the showed leaned into its futuristic influences, with the set design paying homage to science fiction films including the famous neon-lit corridor from 2001: A Space Odyssey and the iconic blast doors from Star Wars.
Alongside boldly constructed coats, the collection featured formal knitwear, bomber jackets and parkas inspired by modernism.
