James Roque’s comedy recommendations

James Roque’s comedy recommendations
There are many parts of lockdown we’ll be keen to leave in the past, but one thing we won’t forget in a hurry is the hilarious content that has come out of it.

Auckland comedian and writer James Roque is one of many Kiwis who have kept us laughing during lockdown with his COVID-themed material.

When he hasn’t been busy entertaining others, Roque has been keeping up with what his fellow comics around the country are producing.

We asked Roque which locals have made him laugh over the past seven weeks. Here’s what he had to say:

Pax Assadi

It’s been a pleasure to watch Pax slowly lose his mind at home. I know his bubble has two kids in it that he loves dearly but are low-key driving him mad. It’s made for good content.

Eli Matthewson

Eli has been churning out some fun lockdown observations and I love imagining his boyfriend begrudgingly being forced to video him.

Mel Bracewell

Mel’s gone worldwide viral during the pandemic which is crazy to think when some of us have just eaten Doritos in our trackpants. Killing it.

Chris Parker

Chris has smashed it in terms of consistency and quality on Instagram. He’s made me laugh every morning and I’m happy he’s really starting to blow up on there.

Tim Batt and Guy Montgomery

These two goofballs have been great relief for all the horrid news stories all over the world. Their maverick style of comedy has been a real salve for all the dark headlines.
