Fashion labels are lining up to launch beauty lines, hoping to boost their fortunes by offering related products at a more accessible price point that their luxury designs.
It’s a well-worn path picking up even more attention, with the likes of Prada, Rabanne and Valentino recently following in the steps of Gucci and Hermès.
Now, inventive French fashion label Jacquemus is set to follow suit, after the revelation of an investment from the cosmetic giant L’Oréal.
The fellow French brand announced a long-term, exclusive beauty partnership with Jacquemus, including a minority investment to support ‘independent development’.
Founded by Simon Porte Jacquemus, the independent, Paris-based brand is known for it’s creativity, wearability and storytelling.

Over the years, Jacquemus has delivered memorable fashion shows that become viral sensations, with runways passing through picturesque fields of lavender and wheat as well as along the canal of the Chateau de Versailles, at the Fondation Maeght and Casa Malaparte in Italy.
On the announcement of the news, Simon Porte Jacquemus said beauty was always part of his plan.
“Fifteen years ago, I began dreaming of and creating Jacquemus, with perfume and beauty always part of my vision for the brand.” He said he is proud to continue “shaping this dream” alongside L’Oréal. “I’m excited to see what the future holds for us.”
Cyril Chapuy, President of L’Oréal Luxe flagged Jacquemus’ ‘sensational creativity and social first playfulness’ as reasons the deal will complement L’Oréal Luxe’s already hefty portfolio of beauty brands, that includes Yves Saint Laurent, Lancôme and Armani.
