Cushions are often considered the perfect finishing touch to a beautiful interior, but finding the perfect ones for your space can sometimes be a challenge.
Christchurch interior designer Becky Lee aims to offer a unique solution to that conundrum.
Lee is the founder of The Cushion Couturier, a business that creates handmade cushions using high-quality furnishing fabrics imported from international design houses, as well as working with vintage cloth. The stylish cushions inject a unique sense of colour, pattern and texture to modern living spaces.
‘Couch tossed, chair propped, bed stacked, floor flung, kaleidoscopes of modern opulence’, is how Lee refers to her vibrant pieces.
Now, the designer and colour fanatic has opened a store in Ōtautahi Christchurch to showcase and retail her range of creations.

The boutique in St Albans unsurprisingly is a riot of hues, with a range of cushions, local design books and a small selection of homewares from Aotearoa creators, sitting alongside bolts of cloth used to create custom designs.
With demand meaning she has outgrown her home-based workroom, Lee, who launched her interior design business in 2017, also has a workspace to create her cushions on-site.
Though she has held pop-up retail spaces prior, the new store is a permanent fixture after looking for the right space in the city for around a year.
