The best of Sydney
In fact, editor Michael McHugh goes so far as to describe the issue as a ‘love story to Sydney.’
The highlight is a ‘portfolio of creativity,’ that introduces some of the city’s influential and exciting figures, currently bringing new energy across a number of industries.
“We have tapped the creative energy of the city and introduce you to some of the city’s inspiring talent, from artists to chefs, designers and actors,” McHugh says. “They are from all walks of life and come from different parts of the globe and all call Sydney home.”
Exploring a different part of the city and to introduce an edit of the season’s best fashion, stylist and photographer Nikki Fenix heads to one of Sydney’s greatest architecturally-designed buildings, The Cove.
Designed by Harry Seidler, as we arrived with our fashion crew at this 45-story modern marvel with views across the city, we couldn’t help but be impressed with seeing the Opera House, the Harbour Bridge and beaches all in one view.
In our Concierge chapter, gastronomical delights are in abundance in our ‘Foodie’s Foodie Guide to Sydney’.
Beyond the NSW scene, we meet talented cover star Emma Mackey. You will know her from her breakthrough performance as Maeve in the Netflix series ‘Sex Education’, but Sophie Dacre’s profile dives not only into what made her portrayal of that character so refreshing, but deeper into Emma’s background, sense of style and upcoming role in the film ‘Hot Milk’.
Design
In the way the best Parisian apartments do, classic and contemporary influences combine in the chic home tour of interior designer Sarah Dray. A minimalist palette of white and touches of chrome and neutral, natural texture is the perfect inspiration to update our own spaces for the season. The divine bathroom with blush-pink onyx floor and counter is a must-see!
A house tour of architect Manuel Cervantes home and studio is a study on merging the natural environment and lush green spaces with a modern city living space and a breezier take is the clean lines and hip furniture informing a 1960s clifftop home overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
Our fabric and interiors report showcases the refreshing combination of blue and green hues in textiles, wall finishings and furniture.
Fashion
Refresh your wardrobe with clean and cool monochromatic ensembles that play with volume, as seen in the ‘Silhouette’ editorial by Nikki Fenix, and meet the stunning accessories that make up Dior’s fine jewellery collection. Serene and simple is the theme of a second fashion editorial of the issue with spring’s best understated outfit approaches for day and night.
We also learn more about relatively new Gucci creative director Sabato De Sarno and his new direction for the esteemed Italian fashion label.
Beauty
In beauty we explore the return to popularity of ‘colour-changing’ makeup, the fresh, dewy lip hues that transform on skin as if by magic, but in reality, it’s simple science.
Our seasonal beauty report shares the latest must-have makeup, skincare, hair and fragrance products and treatments to update your routine as the warmer weather arrives.
