Inside the Issue: STYLE Autumn 2021

Inside the Issue: STYLE Autumn 2021

For the autumn issue of STYLE, creativity comes into focus. STYLE is your inspiration bible for the season, introducing you to the world’s most innovative people, design, beauty and fashion.

“This edition of STYLE, we visit many different creative people taking us all into their studios and worlds and learning how they create within their chosen field,” writes Editor-in-Chief Michael McHugh. “This autumn, lose yourself in someone else’s world just for a moment. You might just learn something about yourself.”

There are two beautiful covers to choose from, featuring Marina Didovich, the Kiwi who is one of the most in-demand fashion stylists in Sydney, and Teeks, a rising star making waves on the music scene here and abroad.

We take you inside a duo of daring tiny homes perched upon a windswept slope on the Chilean coast, offer interior design inspo with two unique homes in Belgium and showcase sophisticated simplicity with entrepreneur Jaimee Lupton’s Auckland apartment.

There are ideas aplenty for interior decoration with fabrics inspired by the natural world, classic Italian furniture pieces which have stood the test of time and artwork created by some of New Zealand’s best glass artists.

Our Culture section profiles artists making their mark overseas, including New Zealand’s representative at the 59th Venice Biennale Yuki Kihara, Sydney-based painter Joanna Braithwaite and celebrated soul singer Teeks.

We’ve also included a feature for aspiring art collectors full of tips from industry experts on how and where to buy art.

Focus is firmly fixed on the eyes when it comes to makeup and skincare this season – we’ll show you how to achieve some show-stopping looks with shadow and liner.

Beauty editor Megan Bedford updates us on the latest products and bespoke services grabbing her attention, and takes us through trends to have on your radar such as smoky hair and slow beauty.

The season’s buzzword for accessorising is ‘eclectic’, so we’ve included a diverse range of pieces to discover this autumn.

We look at the art deco-inspired Louis Vuitton Pure V jewellery collection, discover pieces from Dior’s latest collection which celebrate traditional fabric construction techniques, take in the dazzling new range from Partridge Jewellers and showcase Kiwi labels Mars and Yu Mei.

This autumn is all about iconic designs that have stood the test of time, like trench coats and blue denim. We reveal must-have items that will last you through the seasons.

We get to know Gosia Piatek of Kowtow, peak at the new collection from Taylor and introduce you to Sharon Orquejo, the brains behind Working Style‘s new womenswear collection.

Plus, we’re invited inside the ultra-chic home of Sydney-based fashion stylist Marina Didovich, who discusses her journey to motherhood and changing priorities.

Concierge covers some of New Zealand’s top culinary duos, including Bar Céleste‘s Emma Ogilvie and Nick Landsman, Clare and Joost van den Berg of Daphnes Taverna, and State Bistro‘s Carl Maunder and Jade Lucas.

We also introduce you to the fabulous new Naumi Studio Hotel Wellington, take you on a wine tour of the Wairarapa and share our top tips for travel in Christchurch.
