Our cover star this month is three-time Oscar winner, Meryl Streep. Twenty years ago, she starred in the adaptation of a novel called The Devil Wears Prada. That movie, also starring Stanley Tucci, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt, was, of course, a smash hit. Now the foursome are back on the big screen in The Devil Wears Prada 2.
Of reprising her role as magazine editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly, Streep says, “I love the clothes, I respect the clothes, but the shoes are a workplace hazard … 16 weeks in stilettos is not glamour. It’s combat.”
Of her 50-year acting career, Streep says modestly she is “fortunate to have been in the right place at the right time. Early in my career I had the chance to play many pioneering women’s roles at a moment in Hollywood when those films were very popular. It was a massive break.”
Her breadth of talent and subsequent career have proved that there was far more than just luck involved. Read what lies ahead for her.
