Australians are being urged to remember their favourite charities in their Wills during Include a Charity Week, 16-22 September, an annual event which raises awareness of the importance and ease of leaving a lasting legacy that will benefit generations to come.
More than 140 of Australia’s most loved charities are behind Include a Charity, a campaign to inspire more Australians to consider including their favourite charities in their Will, especially during Include a Charity Week in September
“Australia is one of the most charitable nations in the world with three out of four Australians supporting charities in their lifetime. However only 7.5% of Australians leave a charitable gift in their Will,” said Ross Anderson of Include a Charity.
“Every bequest gift, whether it is big or small, is an immense help to charities and will assist us to achieve our goal of increasing the proportion of Australians who include a charitable bequest gift in their Will from 7.5% to 12%. It’s not a huge increase, but if we get to that figure, Australians will raise a staggering $440 million more for their favourite charities to direct towards their good causes and great work.”
A range of activities targeting the legal community and general public will be undertaken during Include a Charity Week, 16-22 September 2013 encouraging the community to make charitable bequests a real consideration when making or next updating their Wills.
