Video has resurfaced of the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, in a feminist Ad for United Nations Agency, UN Women, promoting the potential of female leaders.

The 37-year-old, former actress’ humanitarian work and women’s rights advocacy started long before she became the Duchess of Sussex, and an emboldening video of the royal appearing in a campaign to encourage female leaders from a few years back has since resurfaced.

“We see potential leaders everywhere,” the tagline to the Ad reads. “It’s time for more women to see it in themselves. Nominate a woman in your life.”

The Duchess of Sussex has been a UN Women’s Advocate for Women’s Political Participation and Leadership since 2015. “I am proud to be a woman and a feminist,” she said in a speech at the UN on International Women’s Day that year.

During that address, she revealed that she’d been fighting for gender equality since she was a little girl; she had even protested a sexist dish soap commercial at the age of 11.

Meghan Markle has already started work on her royal legacy, including bringing more awareness to gender inequality, as she pledged on the British monarchy’s website she would do.

The Duchess has also spoken about how she intends to use her platform for more charity work, telling the audience at the inaugural Royal Foundation Forum in February: “Even if it’s doing it quietly behind the scenes, which is what I’ve focused my energy on thus far… Meeting with the right people, meeting with the organisations behind the scenes quietly, learning as much as I can so I can maximise the opportunity we have here to really make an impact,” she said at the event, as reported by Elle.
