Head to the Huon Valley Mid-Winter Festival this July for a weekend of nasties out of the orchard’s cider trees to ensure a bumper autumn crop. This age old tradition comes from draws on the traditions of cider-producing regions of south-west England.
Friday will kick off the mid-winter festival with an effigy burning, followed by three days of eating, drinking, music and plenty of cider. The main event, the wassail, takes place on Saturday night and involves a ritual performed by Morris dancers from all over the country and is sure to be an unmissable experience.
When: 13th – 15th July 2018
Where: Huon Valley, Tasmania.
