Hublot revealed the Spirit of Big Bang Chronograph in three new ceramic colours.
Unique new colours are high on the agenda for Hublot.

The sixth annual LVMH Watch Week is here, and as the first big watch event of the year, it’s a good indicator of trends to come.

The event gathers the influential timepiece brands in the LVMH (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton) stable, giving them a platform to showcase their latest creations, innovations, and collections.

This year there are nine watchmaking brands taking part – Bvlgari, Hublot, TAG Heuer, Zenith, Daniel Roth, Gérald Genta, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co. and L’Epée 1839.

Straight out the gate Swiss luxury watch brand Hublot made its mark with some striking new additions.

Big Bang MECA-10 42mm

The Big Bang MECA-10, first released in 2016, now gets an optimized calibre in a more compact 42mm size.

The re-engineered watch was initially inspired by Meccano-type construction systems, and has a manual-winding movement with its internal components visible.

Now, Hublot has made that captivating construction slightly smaller, at 42 mm. The watch features an impressive power reserve of 10 days, displayed on a power reserve indicator, and comes in King Gold, Titanium and Frosted Carbon cases.

Spirit of Big Bang Chronographs

New colours are in order for one of Hublot’s best-known and loved styles, the Spirit of Big Bang Chronograph.

The watch, with its barrel shape, was Hublot’s first to feature a case that wasn’t round when it was released a decade ago. It’s just one of the conventions the popular watch with its ceramic case and rubber strap revised with its launch.

For the first time in the collection, the cases and bezels are crafted in coloured ceramics that were previously only available in the round Big Bang shape: Sand Beige, Dark Green and Sky Blue (seen at top), each limited to 200 pieces.

Colourful, hypoallergenic, light, scratch-resistant and gender-neutral in their appeal, they’re likely to be a quick favourite.

Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Green SAXEM

The vibrancy of the green case is the first thing you notice about this new arrival. It’s by design, as the watch features a pioneering use of SAXEM (Sapphire Aluminium oXide and rare Earth Mineral), a material said to be a more luminous version of sapphire.

While it does boast many similar properties to sapphire such as hardness and transparency, it’s different on a molecular level which allows it to take on intense colours and shine brilliantly, ‘like a precious gemstone’. The stunning watch houses Hublot’s MHUB6035 automatic tourbillon manufacture calibre.

Unsurprisingly given its rare and precious constriction, it’s limited to just 18 pieces.

Spirit of Big Bang Year of the Snake

For the final reveal, Hublot has continued its tradition of celebrating the zodiac animals of the Chinese lunisolar calendar with the Spirit of Big Bang Year of the Snake, honouring the arrival of the new year.

Hublot has crafted an ornate rendition of the snake that extends from the dial to the case and even the strap in the Spirit of Big Bang Year of the Snake, which is powered by the Hublot automatic skeleton chronograph calibre HUB4700.

This watch is a limited edition of 88 pieces.
