How to make your own vegetable wash solution

In order to stop the spread of bugs and germs, washing your fruit and vegetables is key.

But giving them a quick rinse with water often isn’t enough. A simple homemade vege wash solution is great for cleaning off pesticides and bacteria.

Vinegar is the key ingredient in this recipe. And while it is not a disinfectant, its acidity makes it a great household cleaning option.

See below for our simple DIY vegetable wash solution.

Ingredients

1/2 cup white vinegar

2 cups water

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 spray bottle

Directions

  1. Mix vinegar and water in a clean spray bottle.
  2. Add the lemon juice.
  3. Shake well.
  4. Spray onto produce and let it sit for a few minutes (a colander or large bowl is best).
  5. Rinse off the produce with water and leave to dry.
