HONY breaks our hearts with photo of distressed gay teen, “I’m homosexual and I’m afraid about what my future will be and that people won’t like me.”
Hillary Clinton joins thousands in support of sad, gay boy featured on HONY, telling him “Your future is going to be amazing!”

A young boy identifying as gay on popular photography blog Humans Of New York, has had an outpouring of support from everyday people, celebrities and even presidential candidate Hilary Clinton.

Ellen DeGeneres, famous for being the first sitcom star to come out on television also lent her support.

The simple, but emotionally powerful image shows the struggle faced by gay youth coming to terms with their sexuality.

Captured by HONY photographer Brandon Stanton, the viral photo has triggered a discussion about support for gay teens, and many comments regarding when children are first aware of their sexuality. Social media has mostly embraced the sad, young boy with a wealth of kind, reassuring comments.

Do you think this was an important image for HONY to post, or that children should not be identified on social media as some commenters have suggested?
