Havoc in Hurricane Harvey’s wake
The death toll continues to rise from Hurricane Harvey.

Record rains continue to fall over Texas in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. 75cm of rain has already fallen on the city of Houston and surrounding areas, causing immense flooding.

With roads turned to rivers, residents are being advised to climb to their rooftops as water levels continue to rise. Thousands of people are being evacuated as the number of rain is expected to double over the week. “It’s a historic amount of water, there’s never been anything like it,” President Donald Trump told reporters yesterday.

The 12,000-strong Texas National Guard has joined national forces in rescuing civilians.

Hurricane Harvey is the worst hurricane to hit Texas since 1961’s Hurricane Carla. The number of confirmed deaths has now risen to eight.
