Summer dances on the water,
She lies languorous and long,
Seeing a horizon of possibility
She breathes calm and strong.
Her breath slows time
she inhales sea spray air
incessant mind chatter abates
she pauses and stares
Witnessing the glory of nature’s beauty
born of sand sea and light
her face beams radiant
at shouts of childish delight
Life’s priority now aligns
with the falling of the sun
No longer does she suffer
to contort what might become.
She lives within that moment
rising from her sandy bed
gently reaching out,
to wake her sleepyhead
She draws her child to her
and nestles in his grace
arms and legs entangled
her heart rests in his embrace.
