Many of us have been affected by breast cancer in some ways, losing a loved one, parent or friend. In New Zealand, nine women a day are diagnosed with breast cancer – adding up to more than 3,300 a year.
Early detection, treatment and research are key to helping save lives and with Pink Ribbon Walk events, its something everyone can take part in.
From 11 October to 14 November, Pink Ribbon Walks throughout New Zealand will be kicking off. The series of 5 km and 10 km fundraising walks sees Kiwis around the country donning bright outfits all for a good cause.
The annual fundraising events are just about pink costumes and fun, but helping all those affected by this horrible disease.
Run by the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ and supported by Estée Lauder, the money raised goes towards the latest research and effective treatments as well as ongoing support for survivors of breast cancer.
“By taking part, you’ll be helping all those affected, as well as bringing us one step closer to our vision of zero deaths from breast cancer,” say organisers.
Whether you’re walking 5 km, 10 km, or simply have some spare money to donate, every contribution counts and brings us one step closer to beating breast cancer and saving lives.
The 2020 Pink Ribbon Walks are scheduled for:
Queenstown – 11 October
Christchurch – 17 October
Wellington – 7 November
Auckland – 14 November
