The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s third child is due on Monday 23 April – less than one week away. Excitement around the birth of the royal baby, which will join siblings George, 4, and Charlotte, 2, has reached boiling point and the guesses are flowing as to what the baby’s name will be.
As proven with Prince George and Princess Charlotte, Kate Middleton and Prince William are fond of traditional names that have appeared throughout the British monarchy.
Most are predicting the royal couple’s third child will be a girl, with top name guesses including Mary, Alice and Victoria. Mary is being favoured, as it is one of Queen Elizabeth II’s middle names and was also her grandmother’s name. Other royal names which could be likely options are Alexandra, Diana, Elizabeth and Grace, though royal commentators are ruling out Diana and Elizabeth as Princess Charlotte’s full name is Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.
If the baby is a boy, Albert and Arthur are the most popular names, followed by Frederick, Henry and James.
What do you think the royal baby’s name will be?
