Gucci’s new Bloom a bright, sparkling scent begging to be picked

Gucci Beauty has a brand new perfume and while it’s risky to judge on past performance, it’s fair to say we’re picking a hit.

That’s because the original Gucci Bloom, (above, left) launched in 2017, has since become a well-regarded favourite and top-seller. The Eau de Parfum even won Fragrance of the Year – Women’s Prestige at 2018’s Fifi’s, The Fragrance Foundation’s annual awards for the best scents of the year, known as the Oscars of fragrance.

The new arrival, Gucci Bloom Eau De Toilette (above, right) embraces the intention of the original scent and spins the idea to deliver a new mood that’s perfect for right now.

A garden of dreams comes alive

Originally, Gucci Bloom was designed to capture a stroll in a garden surrounded by flowers. Of course, in line with the abundance of creativity overflowing from the Gucci universe, that garden was no ordinary arrangement of flowerbeds. It was a thriving garden of dreams, a wander through Eden, imagined by Alessandro Michele, the genius creative director of Gucci.

Michele’s vision was interpreted by Master Perfumer Alberto Morillas. The result? A sumptuous white-floral perfume prominent with jasmine buds and tuberose but also a unique edge thanks to the inclusion of Rangoon creeper, a flowering vine never used in perfumery before.

It is a perfume that appeals to a wide range of people from all ages and walks of life. A modern floral with intensity and style, it is simple enough to remain timeless, something that we’re certain has contributed to its ongoing popularity.

Joyful and lively new vision

Slightly sweeter and lighter, the just-landed new Gucci Bloom Eau de Toilette certainly represents its predecessor but also offers an upbeat new personality.

If you already own the original, this might become your new every day wear, while the original becomes reserved for those special occasions or after-dark events. Rest assured while it’s certainly updated, it does not smell unrecognisable from the original release.

The original trio of jasmine, tuberose and Rangoon creeper still forms the structure of the scent and that ‘magical flower garden’ sensibility. However a citrusy-brightness is also apparent thanks to the addition of a new neroli accord made of lemon Sfumatrice, mandarin and bergamot. This gives it a honeyed sweetness and green citrus facet that means it’s slightly more airy and fresh than the original. Another key difference of the Eau de Toilette is the addition of orange blossom for a light, fluffy heart.

As an Eau de Toilette, it is slightly less concentrated than the original which adds to that light, billowing nature that makes it easy to wear all day and in close confines, say, the office or a restaurant.

As such the new interpretation is likely to have even wider appeal, making that rich tuberose more accessible and the brightness of citrus a serious mood booster we could all benefit from!

Vessel of beauty

The new Gucci Bloom Eau de Toilette is easily distinguished from its earlier counterpart on your vanity counter thanks to its bottle. We love the way it mimics the appearance of the original but has a frosted, slightly sheer bottle in a subtly paler pink tone rather than opaque glass, to evoke the effortless and light radiance of the scent within. The frosted nature of the bottle also helps to see when you’re running low and it is time to seek out a replacement bottle.

The new perfume also makes the perfect gift, its pretty bottle and buoyant nature likely to appeal to many.

Luxury cosmetics line an invite to play

Gucci Beauty has also extended its beauty offering to a range of covetable makeup that encourages cosmetic exploration, whether you prefer a look that’s minimalist and refined or creative and bold. A substantial collection, the lip category alone offers six different options, including Rouge à Lèvres Mat, a high-pigment, velvet-matte lipstick. A modern mani-pedi gets the luxe treatment with high-shine Vernis À Ongles Nail Polish and newest release, Sérum De Beauté Fluide Matifiant, creates the perfect base for Fluide De Beauté Fini Naturel Face Foundation, keeping shine at bay while still keeping skin looking fresh and healthy. Gucci Mascara L’Obscur delivers volume, length and definition to lashes without flaking or smudging. Gucci Beauty is now available at Smith & Caughey’s Queen Street and online.
