This September Australians will vote in a postal survey on marriage equality. The plebiscite, which was announced by the Australian government in August, could lead to the legalisation of same-sex marriage.
Voters will be asked “do you support a change in the law to allow same-sex couples to marry?”, to which they can only respond “yes” or “no.” Australian citizens were given just two weeks to ensure their enrolment details are current before the non-compulsary survey takes place.
To show its support for same-sex marriage and encourage people to vote, Australian fashion label Gorman gave away 5000 Love is Love t-shirts instore. The t-shirt features artwork from the label’s spring collaboration with illustrator Monika Forsberg, and promotes the belief that all people are equal.
After the enrolment deadline closed, Gorman released an additional 10,000 t-shirts available online for free as a pre-order. Head over to gormanclothing.com for more information.
